Swine Flu

After reading some(extreme) ppl who blasted that our govt is not ready for Swine Flu, I feel disappointed and feel there's a need to clear common ignorance...esp the stupid blogger who claimed to be a "prodigy" who knows alot...

I think SG gov has done the necessary stuffs to be ready for what issues they can forsee...for those unforeseen issues, I do hope they don't occur!haha...

For those of you who are not reli following the Swine Flu news, please read this summary and dispel any myths that u've heard:

-Swine flu are not spread by consumption of pork. The flu virus mutated and combines all 3 Human+Avian+Swine flu...this virus has mutated to be stronger than human immunity and thus can spread among human through contact with the virus through nose, eyes, mouth....Viruses are everywhere, pls wash ur hands often and refrain from rubbing ur eyes, nose or mouth etc....and use tissue paper when sneeze, be considerate!

-there are 2 flu drugs Tamiflu and Relenza which are recommended by U.S as they can cure Swine Flu...provided one takes the med within 2 days of onset of infection...

-unlike SARS, Swine flu is infectious within 7 days of infection. Sars was infectious when a person develops fever

-taking tamiflu before infection has ADVERSE effect becoz ur body will be build resistant to the drug should the "Real" infection occurs...so don't panic stockpile!(unless travelling...I guess)

-as of 29 Apr, the following countries have reported laboratory confirmed cases with no deaths - Austria (1), Canada (13), Germany (3), Israel (2), New Zealand (3), Spain (4) and the United Kingdom (5)....oso US has increased doubly today!

-WHO recommends drugs stock to match 25% of a country's population...
tt idiot blames SG govt for not piling up due to cost savings!This is so untrue! becoz SG gov is damn rich(everyone knows)..they won't save cost to jeopardise lives...I read in the papers that SG govt has 30% of stock for preparation. That "IDIOT" lamented that the gov did not stockpile 4.8millions of drugs to match the population...thus not enough to prepare SG in tackling the prob!

Statistically, it is impossible for the WHOLE nation to contract the virus at the same time and needing all 4.8M drugs at the same time...secondly, no country can ever stockpile so much coz this results in straining the supply-demand relationship..Roche can't satisfy the world's demand in such a short time!Com'on, be practical, listen carefully what MOH advises us to do...everything should be fine...Stay calm and don't be panicky!
